James N. Louwerse, CFP®
James offers a depth of experience to GPS through nearly two decades of financial planning and investment advice. He has seen a broad range of financial markets, from the bull market and dot-com era of the late 1990’s to the Great Recession of 2008-2009. He enjoys helping clients navigate the dynamic and ever-changing financial landscape over the course of many years.
James has served on boards/committees for numerous charitable and church entities. Along with his wife and four children, he resides in Grand Rapids, MI. His hobbies include golfing, fishing, and cooking.
Joel D. Poortenga
Joel brings over 18 years of diverse financial experience to GPS, from bank operations, credit analysis, and assistant VP of commercial lending, to the last six years as an Investment Advisor Representative. Joel enjoys the relationships developed through guiding clients in business and financial needs. In addition to financial planning and investment advice, Joel specializes in business retirement plan design and employee education. He takes a proactive approach in working with business owners and their employees to increase participation and grow financial assets.
Joel is an avid golfer and fisherman. He and his wife also enjoy fostering dogs for several rescue groups in the Mokena, IL area.
